Another Business Blog???

Yep.  I am officially one of the millions of others online who wants to share information and experiences about the culture and livelihood that I walk in on a daily basis.  I want to start off by saying that I am by no means a guru on any subject, and I still make a lot of mistakes in the decisions that I make.  The cool thing is that business, and life for that matter, is not about perfection.  Too many people believe that life is about being on top of the mountain, and that getting there is of no concern to them.

The TRUTH is that The Klimb (see how I squeezed that in there? ;)) is the substance of any business.  The climb is the compilation of everything that you put into that entity called “Joe’s Widgets Incorporated” at any given moment.  As entrepreneurs, we are always tempted to set a goal, or a state that we want our business to reach, and we are not satisfied until we get there.  The problem is that once we do get there, we are still inevitably unhappy.  Why?  Because perfection is unattainable.  Perfection is the enemy of excellence.

I cannot tell you how many times I have listened to someone tell me that “if my business was doing x amount in sales, I would be happy” or “if I could take a day off whenever I wanted, I would be set.” Both of these things are great goals to strive for, but they are not an end in themselves.  If you only hear one thing from this whole blog post, hear this: be happy with what your hands find to do TODAY.  A real entrepreneur draws energy and excitement from the challenges, the risks, and the opportunities set before them in the moment.

Now, you are probably the entrepreneur who was excited to get to work on your new project when you first began it, but now you just want out.  You are tired of the daily grind, and there seems to be no end in sight.   You feel as though you are running in circles, and you are starting to feel like a fool for believing you could bring to life the grand design that you had originally marked out in your head.   If this sums you up pretty well, you have come to the right place.  You are not the only one in this boat – in fact, there are very few business owners who do not find themselves in this valley at some point in their journey as an entrepreneur.

So there it is – the reason that I started this blog, to help people like you see that there is hope.  Although it is never easy, there are ways to make the climb a little easier on yourself, and to grow to places you never let yourself believe you could reach. Over the next few months, I am going to delve into some of the tools and methods of making this a reality for you and your business. I want you to know that I am here to help you in any way I can…whether that is through future posts on topics that you want to know more about, or personal advice from someone that may be one step ahead in a certain area of business.

Until next time – enjoy the Klimb!
